Arca Galleon espouses a philosophy of ethical, principled, and transparent dealings with both our external and internal publics. While we have a strong entrepreneurial orientation, we believe that the corporate bottom line should be pursued with attendant benefits for the collective good that
necessarily involves our clients, employees, suppliers, and society in general.
Since its inception, Arca Galleon has strongly advocated the development in the country of the agricultural industry, particularly livestock, which includes the professionalization among its many stakeholders. With Arca Galleon’s founding stockholders being commercial farmers themselves, AG believes that national development is founded on giving primacy to the agricultural and livestock sector as the principal contributor to GDP / GNP and, as a natural corollary, the alleviation of poverty, especially in rural areas where the greatest poverty concentrations remain.
We are cognizant that there are an infinite number of factors that directly impact development, we are of the conviction that fostering the growth of the agricultural sector in the country is integral to this objective. Notwithstanding the fact that there should be a holistic approach to development, the unfortunate reality is that current development paradigms tend to prioritize the advancement of the industrial and service sectors of the economy with agriculture having been relegated to a poor second in various policy initiatives of the government. The patent consequence has been the retrogression of the Philippine Agri-sector over the last several decades
relative to some of our more progressive neighbor countries.
What we have witnessed is no less than an acute decline in both farming output and quality, most especially in key sub-sectors where we once ranked among the top.
Additionally, the woeful neglect of this sector is most evident in the fact that farming infrastructure remains inadequate which has hampered the ability of farmers to bring products from farm to market.
While we are limited as a private company in our ability to influence the latter, we have committed ourselves to the proposition that we can do much to improve farming
production in the Philippines which, ultimately, has a favorable impact on the economy and so enhances our capacity to feed our people. Our vision is to play a significant and meaningful role in bolstering agricultural output across the entire spectrum of industry players from individual small-scale farms to commercial operators. As an even more ambitious component of our corporate social advocacy, we desire to raise the living standards of the average subsistence farmer by educating him to a level that will enable and, indeed, incentivize him to bring produce directly to market.
